The Opportunity

 

It is an exciting time for the Finance team at Plan International. We have embarked on significant departmental transformation to ensure strong financial capability and to maximise the impact of our financial resources, for the benefit of children, especially girls.  As we embark on this ambitious and exciting journey, we are recruiting for an Interim Director of Accounting Services, who will help to prepare, position and strengthen the organisation to achieve long lasting change in children’s lives.

 

You will be responsible for ensuring Plan International is financially sustainable and financial risks are minimised and mitigated through building and maintaining an effective, customer focused, culture of financial control and ensuring Plan International is compliant with its regulatory requirements. 

 

The team is responsible for all aspects of financial accounting, statutory reporting and customer service for a global organisation, operating across 80 countries with an annual income of more than €900 million and you will provide strategic thought leadership, operational leadership and management of Group financial activities, with overall responsibility for corporate statutory financial reporting, financial accounts, processes and systems

 

About You

 

A qualified Chartered Accountant, you are a multi-disciplinary financial expert in financial accounting, control and compliance. You bring a breadth of financial experience, ideally gained within the iNGO (ideally humanitarian and development) or non-profit sectors and on a global, regional or multi country basis.

Location: Our Global Hub is based in Woking, Surrey. The majority of our staff are still working from home however the expectation is that the team generally meet together in the office once a week. Applicants must have the pre-existing right to work in the UK.

Type of Role: Nine month fixed term contract
