Position: Communications and Advocacy Officer (Climate Resilience Measurement for Communities - CRMC Project)

 

About the Project:

 

Plan International Pilipinas Foundation Inc. is dedicated to advancing children's rights and equality for girls. We are currently seeking a dynamic and passionate Communications and Advocacy Officer to join our team and contribute to the Climate Resilience Measurement for Communities (CRMC) project, funded by the Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance. This initiative aims to enhance the resilience of communities in Navotas and Manila by assessing and monitoring their capacity to withstand natural hazards.

 

About the Role:

 

As the Communications and Advocacy Officer, you will play a pivotal role in leading the development and implementation of awareness-raising, advocacy, and influencing strategies for the project. You will work closely with the Communications, Advocacy, and Campaigns (CAC) Unit and the project team to:

 

  • Strategize and Execute: Lead the conceptualization, planning, and execution of the communications plan for the project.
  • Digital Engagement: Serve as the project's focal person for social media and digital strategy, ensuring effective online communication.
  • Capacity Building: Support the project team in building the capacity of youth advocates to effectively communicate their climate advocacy.
  • Content Development: Draft and develop impactful information, education, and communication (IEC) materials for various traditional and digital channels (brochures, infographics, audio-visual presentations).
  • Platform Management: Support the management and general upkeep of Plan International Pilipinas’ website and social media platforms.
  • Advocacy and Influencing: Use various communication channels to raise awareness among local government units (LGUs), national government agencies (NGAs), and communities on the impacts of climate change, and encourage participatory planning for climate change adaptation.
  • Emergency Response: Support emergency response activities in assigned communities, as required.

You will work under the supervision of the Head of the CAC Unit and collaborate with other communications specialists and consultants to contribute to social media content, digital communications, global and national campaigns, branding, and visibility.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Communication, Mass Communication, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in communications work, including social media and web writing, content development and production, and maintaining social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) and websites.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with LGUs and NGAs.
  • Strong understanding of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in developing and implementing advocacy campaigns.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Previous development sector experience in a similar role is highly desirable.
  • Excellent critical and analytical thinking skills.
  • Ability and willingness to conduct fieldwork in project areas.
  • Must be a Filipino national based in the Philippines.
