It's an exciting time to join the Plan International Ukraine team as we build our presence in the region. As our new Head of Programmes you will have the unique opportunity to shape the role as we grow in capacity and develop our strategy for the response in Ukraine.

 

What you'll be doing

 

  • As Head of Programmes you will be responsible for overall management of programme activities in Ukraine.
  • A key focus will be on external representation within the wider humanitarian sector and with the National Government.
  • You'll also play an important role in ensuring partner organisations receive high quality technical advice and support based on each of their specific needs.
  • Ultimately, you will be underpinning your work with a strong gender focus in all activities, ensuring that the specific needs of girls are identified and addressed in our response to the crisis.

 

We're looking for an adaptable leader with the ability to take decisions with limited information in an environment that is constantly evolving.

 

The Requirements

· Significant experience of managing emergency programmes in several different humanitarian crises.

· Demonstrated experience of key practice and standards for humanitarian response such as SPHERE and CHS.

· Conversant with the international humanitarian architecture, particularly related to coordination and funding. Demonstrated prior experience of engaging with the humanitarian coordination system at local, regional and global levels.

· Significant experience in budget development and management of large grants

· In depth understanding of donor requirements.

· Project management including planning and scheduling, process design, implementation and monitoring and evaluation

· Confident in engaging in senior level advocacy and influencing discussions. Proven skills in influencing and effecting positive change.

· High level networking skills and an ability to develop and maintain the profile of Plan International effectively across a wide range of different stakeholders.

· Extensive programming experience in Gender in emergencies, particularly related to girls and adolescent girls.

 

Desirable

· Experience of working in Ukraine or Eastern Europe

· Experience of working in partnership with local organisations.

· Demonstrable experience of developing and running training and facilitation activities.

Location: Ukraine, with travel in-country to programme locations and potentially within region to support response programming

Type of Role: 6 month fixed term contract, with potential to extend
