Business Development Manager - Ukraine

Date: 16 Apr 2024

Location: Kyiv, Ukraine

Company: Plan International

The Organisation

Plan International is an independent child rights and humanitarian organisation committed to children living a life free of poverty, violence, and injustice.

We actively unite children, communities and other people who share our mission to make positive lasting changes in children’s and young people’s lives. We support children to gain the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to claim their rights to a fulfilling life, today and in the future. We place a specific focus on girls and women, who are most often left behind.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for more than 85 years, and are now active in over 80 countries.

The Opportunity

Plan International has responded to the Ukraine Crisis since March 2022, starting in countries hosting Ukrainian refugees (Moldova, Romania, Poland) and thereafter expanding humanitarian operations inside Ukraine since August 2022. Since October 2022, Plan International has been duly registered in Ukraine as a representative office of Plan International Inc.

The portfolio inside Ukraine is seeing a rapid expansion and has the ambition to grow to EUR 20-25M on an annual basis. Growth is expected to come through the acquisition of grants from both bilateral and multilateral donors as well as through ongoing public appeals and exploring corporate sector funding opportunities.

This role is required to lead fundraising and resource mobilisation initiatives and coordinate proposal development processes, ensuring there is a priority focus on the key priorities outlined in the Plan International Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Response Strategy. We know that this crisis will have devastating long-term effects on women and children in the region and Plan International will play a vital role in responding to these needs as we continue to establish operations in each of the four countries.   We are looking for a Business Development Manager (BDM) who can lead Plan’s resource mobilization efforts and contribute to successful fundraising in Ukraine.

About you

You will be a values-based and feminist leader, deeply comfortable with purpose-driven resource mobilisation and fundraising, and with a demonstrable commitment to gender equality, equity, diversity, and inclusion. You will understand and drive efforts to deliver positive change for girls in crisis through donor engagements at a national and international level. You will lead by example in ensuring gender equality is evident in everything we do throughout all aspects of business development and donor engagement and through adequate ways of working. You will work with your team to bring about the right culture that ensures we are champions for girls and gender equality.

You have an academic degree in international development/relations, health, public health, economics, or a related technical discipline. You have substantive experience in proposal development for multilateral and bilateral donors. You have demonstrable strong writing, editing, and communication skills. You are excellent at delivering compelling presentations. You also have a track record in creating and pursuing new opportunities with an affinity for strategic planning and excellent time management skills.

We strongly encourage citizens of Ukraine to apply, including those who have been displaced as a result of the conflict and members of minority communities. We want Plan International to reflect the diversity of the communities we work with, offering equal opportunities to everyone regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

Only applications in English will be considered.
