Senior Adviser - Multilateral Partnerships
Date: 7 Nov 2024
Location: Globally, Flexible
Company: Plan International
The Organisation
Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. We believe in the power and potential of every child but know this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it is girls who are most affected.
Working together with children, young people, supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges girls and vulnerable children face. We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood and we enable children to prepare for and respond to crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.
For over 85 years, we have rallied other determined optimists to transform the lives of all children in more than 80 countries.
We won’t stop until we are all equal.
The Opportunity
Do you have the skills and capacity to guide Plan’s thinking on how we best develop and scale-up key strategic partnership opportunities with UN agencies, multilateral organisations and development banks, exploring areas of collaboration that will result in the greatest transformative change for children?
This newly created role will perform a central account management function at the global level in leading organisation-wide engagement with select multilateral entities, working with and on behalf of the entire organisation to better position Plan International and deepen engagement with strategic external partners.
In this role you will represent Plan International externally and internally; consult, cooperate and capitalise on existing organisational strengths; and help to steer strategic thinking with organizational leaders. The role will work closely with colleagues at the country and regional level, as well as the Policy, Advocacy, Campaigns and Engagement (PACE) and Humanitarian team at the Global Hub.
About You
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge and understanding of the United Nations system, preferably with an understanding of the internal workings of international financial institutions (IFIs) or other multilateral organizations too. You will have expertise in advocacy, policy, and/or fundraising within international development. A significant awareness of global partner engagement strategies, quality assurance guidelines, monitoring and evaluation frameworks for external partnerships, and partnership capacity building is essential. We are looking for someone with a demonstrable track record of success in building global partnerships and alliances. Extensive knowledge of current issues and trends in international development is also required.
