The Opportunity 

 

The Assistant Supply Chain and Admin supports the efficient implementation of drilling operations by enabling timely procurement, logistics, inventory management, and administrative support for the drilling team and Supply chain team for the project. The role helps the availability and safe management of tools, equipment, and materials, while maintaining full compliance with organizational and donor requirements. Through effective Assistance of supply chain and administrative processes, the position enables smooth, cost-effective, and timely drilling, installation, and maintenance of shallow wells and boreholes, even in challenging field conditions.

 

The Individual

 

  • Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or administrative roles, preferably within NGOs, construction, drilling, or other heavy equipment operations.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting drilling rig operations, construction works, or related heavy equipment activities.
  • Experience working in remote, hard-to-reach, or emergency field environments is an asset.

 

Qualifications/ experience desirable:

  • Basic knowledge of shallow well drilling operations, tools, and safe equipment handling.
  • Strong understanding of procurement procedures, fleet management, warehousing, purchasing, and inventory control systems.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office, reporting, and record-keeping.
  • Strong commitment to safety and compliance in all field and operational activities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teams and cross-functional partners in remote and challenging environments.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work long hours in outdoor, hot, and rugged conditions as required by drilling operations.

Languages required:

  • English Required -written and spoken Amharic: Required.
  • Knowledge of local languages is highly desirable.

Safeguarding Children and Program Participants (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed per the appropriate procedures.
  • Ensures that all staff in the unit/function/department are properly inducted on and understand their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies
  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.
  • Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted
