Since 24 September 2017, Plan International has been responding to the Rohingya refugee influx in Cox’s Bazar with special focus on protecting girls and boys from violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation; improving hygiene and sanitation; and restoring access to safe, quality, and inclusive education for refugee children and adolescents. For the past three decades, our work in Bangladesh has made a significant impact, and we are now looking for a Jr. Gender Expert.

The Role

The Jr. Gender Expert will support the design, integration, and implementation of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) approaches within the SNSA/EARN project to ensure that gender-responsive and inclusive practices are systematically mainstreamed across all project components. The Social Norms Specialized Agency (SNSA) is a key component of the Economic Acceleration and Resilience for NEET (EARN) Project, implemented by the Department of Youth Development (DYD) under the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) with support from the World Bank. This role contributes to advancing equitable access to skills development and employment opportunities for women, youth, and vulnerable populations, particularly in the context of climate-resilient livelihoods.

What we’re looking for

• Master's degree in sociology, social work, anthropology, gender studies, development studies or other relevant disciplines.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively experience with an inter/national organization mainstreaming gender into skills development and jobs, in line with climate change programs to promote gender equity, including designing and strategic direction of gender, gender sensitization, GESI, social norms, gender audit and/or gender program analysis, and gender targeted support.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and proven successful ability to conduct gender and youth analyses and gender and youth integration programming.
• Have expertise on designing GESI guideline for each project activity and relevant players, partners, agencies.
• Designing and developing monitoring strategy, tools and information flow strategy in connection to overall project monitoring framework for SN and GESI.
• Experience to conduct mapping of GBV service providers, especially for project areas where there are gaps in mapping of such service providers and SEA/SH Grievance Redress Mechanism and referral pathways in partnership with the identified GBV service provider.

Location: Bangladesh Country Officer, with 60% travel

Deadline: 08 August 2026

The project duration is up to 24 months, and the selected candidate will receive an initial one (1) year contract for this position, with a high possibility of extension based on performance and availability of funds. Only Bangladeshi citizens are eligible to apply.

Salary Package for this role is BDT. 65,071 monthly CTC salary along with other benefits, i.e., hospitalization benefit for spouse and children, contributory provident fund, gratuity, festival bonus, leave, group insurance, yearly medical check-up for employee, and day care facilities.
