Plan International started working in Egypt in 1981 and has a presence in ten of the 27 governorates in which the country including Greater Cairo, Alexandria, Giza, Beheira, Kalyoubia, Damietta, Qena, Assuit and Sohag. Plan international Egypt implements programmes designed to enable communities to improve the lives of the most marginalised children and their families. Plan Egypt’s Country Strategy focuses on five strategic objectives.
Through a five-interconnected, gender transformative and context-fit country objectives, PIE intends along with the various stakeholders at all levels to continue delivering positive and transformative changes so that “Children, especially girls, and young people grow up in an enabling environment, realizing their rights and contributing in both development and humanitarian settings as active agents of change”.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The purpose of the role is to follow up and monitor the project at the PU level (Assiut), while ensuring a seamless integration and quality of deliverables in line with the Country Strategy. The post holder will design, implement, monitor and report on progress of project activities in line with detailed implementation plan. He/she will work with various stakeholders and partners.
Project’s Brief:
Combating FGM in Assiut and Sohag are a three-year project to combat Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and other harmful traditional practices (HTPs). Building on the achievements and lessons learned from previous phase. The project focuses on empowering girls and women also community actors to be active participant advocating to stop GBV and other HTPs.
Overall Objective:
Contributing to the establishment of more enabling and gender responsive environment with increased protection from violence, especially harmful traditional practices
Main Outcome:
- Strengthened abilities of 1200 participants (800 Children, young people, and 400 parents and grandparents) to identify and combat different forms of violence and harmful practices, applying innovative and creative approaches to foster safer and more equitable communities.
- Stronger community-based mechanisms are established, with youth, CBOs, medical professionals, and religious leaders working together to combat harmful practices and ensure responsive referral and support systems for those at risk.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and follow up on project implementation and support the timely delivery of project activities against agreed workplans.
- Facilitate the development and updating of project implementation plans and ensure effective coordination, teamwork, and follow-up with partners and stakeholders.
- Facilitate regular partner and staff coordination meetings and follow up on action points to ensure effective implementation of project activities according to agreed timelines.
- Support the organization and coordination of project events, trainings, workshops, meetings, and field visits, including the required logistical and administrative arrangements.
- Ensure that Plan Egypt’s relevant policies on Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI), Safeguarding, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Security Management are integrated into project planning and implementation.
- Ensure quality and timely implementation of project activities with government stakeholders, partners, and community actors, while maintaining effective communication and coordination with all relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and process Purchase Requests (PRs) and Orders (POs) in SAP, follow up on procurement and payment processes, and support budget monitoring in coordination with Finance to ensure compliance with approved budgets and donor requirements
- Support project monitoring, reporting, and documentation processes, including data collection, maintenance of project records, preparation of reports and meeting minutes, and documentation of achievements, lessons learned, and beneficiary data in coordination with the MERL team.
- Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded per the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed per the appropriate procedures
What we are looking for:
Qualifications/ experience essential:
- A bachelor degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies or similar field.
- 3-5 years of experience with a proven record of success at a similar level preferably in an INGO sector.
- Proven experiences and ability to coordinate and collaborate with different civil society and Community based organization.
Knowledge:
- Advanced understanding of the development needs and their vulnerability of our Primary Impact Groups from birth to adulthood, the root causes of the issues affecting them, and the key actors most relevant to their interests and therefore to our work
- Knowledge on gender transformative approaches, working in partnership, evidence-based approaches, and working to strengthen civil society.
Skills
- Providing clear direction and support to team members.
- Using on-going monitoring and assessment, working closely with project teams to improve the quality of implementation.
- Interpreting and contextualising data, assesses results and draws conclusions to inform initiatives and clearly communicating the results of evaluation and lessons learned as appropriate.
