Plan International embarked on an ambitious and exciting strategic change initiative to make the organization more transparent, legitimate, and agile. Strengthening our financial planning, decision making, and analytics is a key enabler in attaining our strategic goals.

Under the leadership of the Country Director, the Country Finance Director (CFD) oversees the strategic oversight and leads business planning process:

 

  • Budgeting for the Country Office and Grants
  • Providing timely and reliable financial information and analysis that leads to effective decision making in-country.
  • Managing accounting and treasury functions.
  • Producing financial reporting and analysis.
  • Implementing internal financial controls.
  • Risk Management
  • Developing people

 

The Country Finance Director is responsible for leading, managing and developing the finance team to support the implementation of financial standards, processes and systems throughout Plan International Guinea to enable it to deliver on its program strategies and accountabilities to children, communities and donors. As a member of Country Management Team, the CFD contributes to the development of the strategy of the country, understands impact of policy changes on Finance strategy, acts as financial sparring partner in management, and advises the management team on financial matters. Sets and ensures implementation of procedures, guidelines and work instructions for financial administration of offices and carries out, optimises and oversees the financial accounting within the country. The Country Finance Director is also responsible for providing timely and reliable financial information and analysis that leads to effective decision making.

 

DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE:

 

The position of Country Finance Director (CFD) is an integral part of the team responsible for the overall management of all areas related to finance, budgetary management and oversight, and contracts;

  • The position manages 6-Line reports: 1-Country Accountant, 1-Business Analyst; 1-Comptable; 3-Finances Accountants for PIIAs;
  • The CFD leads the financial services which have an average annual budget of approximately 20 Million Euros
  • Team up with the relevant department and D-CD ops. to ensure that Plan International Guinea does have a well-functioning system in place to enable the proactive response in case of emergencies;
  • Represents Plan International Guinea in major finance related platforms such as regional networks for CFD, SAP regional network meetings and trainings, meetings with Banks and local tax authorities if and when required plan-international.org Role Profile 1
  • The CFD provides appropriate financial capabilities to enable the CD to meet their accountability for financial operations.
  • The CFD provides financial information and analysis that supports the country to meet agreed objectives.
