Join Us at Plan International Bangladesh: Make a Lasting Impact!
Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And its girls who are most affected and mostly during crisis. Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children. For over 85 years, we have rallied other determined optimists to transform the lives of all children in more than 80 countries.
Over the 30 years journey in Bangladesh, we envision a 2030 where children and youth, particularly girls and young women, are recognized as leaders of change in gender norms and can make decisions about their lives.
Since 24 September 2017, Plan International has been responding to the Rohingya refugee influx in Cox’s Bazar with special focus on protecting girls and boys from violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation; improving hygiene and sanitation; and restoring access to safe, quality, and inclusive education for refugee children and adolescents. Guided by our core values, we remain unwavering in our commitment to advancing children’s rights and equality for girls so that children, especially girls, and their communities can learn, lead, decide, and thrive.
For the past three decades, our work in Bangladesh has made a significant impact, and we are now looking for a Project Coordinator.
The Role
The Project Coordinator will lead the field-level coordination and implementation of the “Building Climate-Resilient, Environment-Sustainable Coastal Communities (ResCoast)” project in Barguna under Plan International Bangladesh. Funded by Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) under its Mandatory Agriculture CSR Activities, the core objective of this project is to enhance the climate resilience and economic well-being of at-risk coastal communities by promoting locally led climate adaptation, sustainable green livelihoods, and improving community infrastructure. This project aims to enhance the climate resilience and economic well-being of 1,815 direct vulnerable coastal households (with a strong focus on youth aged 18–24 and young women) across 6 resilient villages in Barguna Sadar Upazila.
The role will provide operational and technical leadership for field implementation while ensuring effective coordination with local government institutions, technical departments, youth groups, community structures, and implementing stakeholders. The incumbent will oversee planning, implementation, budget tracking, monitoring, reporting, documentation, and learning processes to ensure that the project achieves its intended results in alignment with donor expectations, organizational standards, and national climate resilience priorities.
The position will also play a critical role in ensuring integration of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), safeguarding, gender equality and inclusion, and community accountability mechanisms throughout the project lifecycle.
What we’re looking for

- Seasoned Development & Livelihoods Specialist: Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in development, climate resilience, and community-based project implementation, with a deep understanding of locally led adaptation (LLA) and resilience programming.
- Field-Rooted Operational Leader: At least 2 years of dedicated experience working directly in field locations at the District or Upazila level, demonstrating an innate ability to lead community mobilization and navigate local government institutions.
- Donor-Funded Project & Financial Architect: Demonstrated success in managing and coordinating donor-funded projects, with practical expertise in operational project planning, rigorous budget tracking, implementation monitoring, and comprehensive milestone reporting.
- Adaptive Programming & Capacity Builder: Proven experience implementing climate-smart agriculture, DRR, or youth livelihood programming, paired with a skilled ability to facilitate training sessions, workshops, and participatory community engagement.
- MEAL Champion & Digital Navigator: A solid understanding of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) systems and field-level data management, backed by full proficiency in standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
