The Opportunity:

The Health and Safety Assistant ensures that the entire project’s staff work in an environment consistent with accepted minimum safety and security standards. You will serve as the technical resource person on safety and security risks and incidents management within the North West and South West Region. This role reports to the Officer in Charge, Security Officer, and the Security Manager.

You will support in the process of overseeing and coordinating the safety and security department’s activities.

 

The Individual/About You:

As the Health and Safety Assistant is responsible for ensuring access procedures for the project team in the North-West and/or South West regions, most specifically in the 29 identified Health Districts and 267 Health Areas within the context of the Global Fund project.

You will also conduct regular Security Risk Assessments (SRA) in the project implementation areas and recommend mitigation measures, while maintaining and updating area-specific security management plans, SOPs. It is also within your role to contribute to the development and updating of the contingency plans (evacuation, hibernation, relocation).

To best meet up with your objectives, the below will be of key value to you:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Political Science, or any other related field of study;
  • Certified trainer on HEIST/FAST/Humanitarian Access and other security training is an asset;
  • Minimum of two (02) years of experience in security management in a humanitarian/recovery context;
  • Previous experience working in complex and volatile security contexts;
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills, with good demonstration of discretion;
  • Fluency in English Language, both written and verbal;
  • Knowledge of one of the GIS tools for mapping purposes;
