Through a five-interconnected, gender transformative and context-fit country objectives, PIE intends along with the various stakeholders at all levels to continue delivering positive and transformative changes so that “Children, especially girls, and young people grow up in an enabling environment, realizing their rights and contributing in both development and humanitarian settings as active agents of change”.

The Opportunity

At Plan International, we work to advance children’s rights and equality for girls. We are currently seeking a Project Coordinator, UNHCR - Livelihood to lead our livelihood project, which focuses on enhancing the economic self-reliance and resilience of vulnerable refugees and host community members in Egypt through entrepreneurship and employability.

In this role, you will be responsible for the development of project implementation plans and overseeing project activities, including business skills training, digital skills development, and vocational training. You will foster social cohesion between refugees and host communities while ensuring high standards of financial accountability and project monitoring.

 

The Role

As Project Coordinator, UNHCR - Livelihood, you will:

  • Oversee project implementation by developing detailed plans and ensuring activities align with the strategic objectives of Plan Egypt's Country Strategic Plan.
  • Lead and manage a team of three direct reports, ensuring effective coordination and professional development.
  • Manage project finances and budgets, including overseeing spending and supporting the development of Project Outlines (PO) in SAP.
  • Establish community-based M&E systems to monitor implementation and evaluate job retention and placement success for beneficiaries.
  • Foster networking and advocacy by building relationships with local government departments, collaborating partners, and community leaders.
  • Promote social cohesion by organizing community events that encourage positive interaction between refugees and host community members.
  • Ensure inclusive selection criteria are used to evaluate applicants fairly, specifically facilitating the inclusion of people with disabilities and women.

 

About You

We are looking for a professional who is analytical, collaborative, and committed to economic empowerment and strong project governance.

You will ideally have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in development, business studies, social science, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in an INGO environment.
  • Relevant experience in economic empowerment projects and a solid understanding of community development principles.
  • Strong project management and budget management skills, including report writing.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • A good level of English language proficiency.
  • The ability to work in a diverse environment, spending approximately 60% of your time in the field.

 

Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
  • Ensures that Humanitarian Program staff are properly inducted on and understands their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;
  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in project design, during implementation and as principles applied in day-to-day work of Programme team;
  • Ensures that Plan Egypt contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.

 

Location: Delta Program Unit in Alex.

Type of Role: The project ends by 31/12/2026.

Reports to: UNHCR Project Manager.
