The Opportunity

At Plan International, we work to advance children’s rights and equality for girls. We are currently seeking a Program Area Accountant – Delta to support the financial management and operational efficiency of our programs within the Delta Program Area.

In this role, you will provide timely and reliable financial information and analysis to support effective decision-making, ensure compliance with organizational and donor policies, and strengthen financial accountability across programs and partnerships. You will work closely with program teams, finance colleagues, and partners to ensure sound financial management and high-quality financial reporting.

The Role

As Program Area Accountant, you will:

  • Manage financial accounting processes for the Program Area, including vouchers, bank transactions, reconciliations, and financial documentation.

  • Support budgeting, financial reporting, and grant management to ensure compliance with Plan policies and donor requirements.

  • Monitor advances, settlements, and cash forecasts while maintaining strong financial controls.

  • Review procurement and payment documentation to ensure cost eligibility, budget availability, and compliance with policies.

  • Record and review financial transactions in the ERP system (SAP) and ensure accurate postings and reconciliations.

  • Support payroll controlling activities, including salary journals, timesheet allocations, and statutory reporting.

  • Provide financial guidance and technical support to program teams and partners, including capacity-building sessions.

  • Support internal and external audits and ensure follow-up on audit recommendations.

  • Contribute to strengthening financial oversight, risk management, and budget monitoring across the Program Area.

About You

We are looking for a finance professional who is analytical, collaborative, and committed to accountability and strong financial governance.

You will ideally have:

  • A degree in Accounting or Finance or an equivalent professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIS or similar).

  • Experience in financial management, accounting, and budget monitoring, preferably within an INGO or development organization.

  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, and audit requirements.

  • Experience working with ERP systems or accounting software (SAP experience is an advantage).

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)

  • Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
  • Ensures that Humanitarian Program staff are properly inducted on and understands their role in upholding Plan International’s safeguarding and GEI policies;
  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in project design, during implementation and as principles applied in day-to-day work of Programme team;
  • Ensures that Plan Egypt contributes to Plan International’s global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant seing and data are submitted.

 

Location: Alex. Progarm Unit with visits to Damietta Office.

Type of Role: fixed term contract.
