THE OPPORTUNITY
Plan International Ghana is looking to recruit an experienced and qualified professional to join its ranks as Employment and Entrepreneurship Specialist to provide technical and specialist support to the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs, projects and proposals aimed at promoting youth enterprises, youth employment, skills development and economic empowerment in line with Plan International’s Area of Global Distinctiveness (AoGD) of Skills Opportunities for Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship (SOYEE) across Ghana.
ABOUT YOU
The Specialist will work with stakeholders to enhance youth employability, entrepreneurship, and access to financial services, focusing on key growth sectors in Ghana. The role is critical in achieving both the foundational and complementary indicators of thematic program areas of Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship (SOYEE).
Technical expertise, skills and knowledge
Essential
- Understanding of Ghana Government policies, laws, and institutions in Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship and skill development sector/field
- Demonstrated knowledge of gender transformative approach, gender-based violence, child rights, and inclusion.
- Knowledge of theories of child-rights programming and child protection (programmatic and safe-guarding)
- Knowledge of development issues, trends, challenges and opportunities and implications to community development
- Knowledge of measuring influencing project outcomes
- Understanding of gender transformative program/projects
- In-depth knowledge of strategic planning processes, results-based management and the design of MERL frameworks and demonstrated experience as a development professional in design, planning and monitoring of programs and projects
- Knowledgeable on participatory and gender sensitive monitoring tools and systems
- Knowledgeable on tool design for collecting qualitative and quantitative data for monitoring and feedback processes.
Education, experience, skills and technical Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- Master's degree in a relevant field, such as agronomy, agricultural economy, economics, , youth economic empowerment.
- At least 5 years of experience in youth employment, entrepreneurship, economic empowerment in rural and urban areas, or related fields.
- Relevant experienced to community development and humanitarian, including budget management, monitoring and evaluation, and quality project reporting in the NGO sector.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of youth employment and economic empowerment issues in Ghana.
- Experience in program design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team and build partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
- Good knowledge of monitoring, research, evaluation using quantitative and qualitative principles-
- Good knowledge of data management software (SPSS/STATA EXCEL, Word, Power Point, Access, etc)
- Proficient in Microsoft applications and use of relevant software and other applications, e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet.
- Good report writing and presentation skills
- Good written and reading skills in English
- Strong planning skills
Technical Expertise:
- Knowledge of key growth sectors for youth employment in Ghana.
- Understanding of entrepreneurship and enterprise development principles and practice.
- Familiarity with financial inclusion and access to financial services issues.
