The Opportunity



The global technology portfolio and technical services delivered to all Plan International’s users and offices undergoes continuous evolution and this role is accountable for the technical environments and integrations, ensuring alignment with requirements and compliance with standards and policies.


The role is responsible for the management and coordination of all changes to all technical environments after development and works with internal and external stakeholders to develop environmental requirements and ensure solutions meet them whilst adhering to the larger technical strategy. It also oversees the releases of software and security patches into environments and oversees and integrates disparate third-party vendors in management of the environments.



The role holder will be dealing with challenges that are complex, ambiguous and can require extensive analysis. Plan International is currently in a transition period of on-premise to cloud and therefore has limited ‘current’ architectural standards although a solid base in best practice exists.




About You



The successful candidate will have significant experience of successfully managing complex technical environments for large scale programmes and experience of delivery in distributed environments. They will have an expert understanding of IT infrastructure and significant cloud experience and exposure to various cloud-based applications, including ERP and experience and understanding of D365 environments.




Additionally, they will have:



  • A strong technical background in software engineering and delivery
  • Wide experience in IT Environment Management in a corporate environment
  • Wide and deep technical skills and the ability to understand technology across multiple domains
  • Extensive project management skills
  • Strong analytical skills; problem solving; decision making in complex and ambiguous environment
  • Wide exposure to operational, business, and technical issues and their respective needs
  • Proven ability to deliver to tight deadlines in complex and challenging environments
  • Proven track-record of strong negotiation and influencing skills with senior stakeholders and technology company account directors
  • Deep knowledge of the Microsoft Technology Stack with specific expertise around Dynamics environments, release assessment, planning and management
  • Expertise with engineering tools such as, Microsoft Azure DevOps, Life Cycle Services or similar
