THE OPPORTUNITY

 

Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), including Menstrual health and hygiene, is one of Plan International’s key thematic programs and focuses on ensuring that girls and boys can make free and informed choices about their bodies and they grow up receiving quality care and free from violence. 

 

Plan International is currently implementing a project that aims to localize a Menstrual Period Tracking Mobile app (Oky), developed by UNICEF. The app provides access to 55,000 girls and young women in the Philippines to individualized menstrual hygiene and health and SRHR information. The project will be implemented across the country with a particular focus on Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Eastern Visayas (Leyte, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar), Occidental Mindoro, and Metro Manila (Manila and Valenzuela).

 

In line with this project, Plan International invites competent, experienced, and committed professionals to fill the following position. 

 

The Communications Officer for Social Media and Digital Strategy will provide support for the Oky Project and other Program Teams in the development and production of multimedia content, management of digital and web activities, and integration of content and digital into the implementation of communication and visibility strategies across programs and projects. 

 

Further, as the Communications Officer:

 

  • You will be tasked to develop and implement a communications plan for the Oky App Project.
  • You will lead the conceptualization, planning, and execution of digital content for Plan International Philippines’ key advocacies, campaigns, programs, and projects.
  • You will support the deployment of the app through digital media promotion and other communications strategies.
  • You will support youth-led content development for social media, website, and youth reporter webpage.
  • You will contribute to the development of case stories or stories of change for digital media and reporting purposes.
  • Plan International is a development and humanitarian organization. In exceptional cases, you will be asked to support emergency response activities in the communities in the project’s covered areas.

 

 

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

 

To be successful in the role you will need among other things:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, development communication, or journalism.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in social media and web writing, content development and production, and maintaining social media accounts (especially Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) and websites.
  • Good understanding of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms.
  • Proficiency in using design and video editing software and tools is a plus.
  • Previous work experience in a similar role or in a non-government organization/s is an advantage.
  • Very good verbal communication skills and the ability to relate to people from all backgrounds.
  • Applicants must be based in the Philippines and a Filipino national.
